Marjorie Hoben

Richford - Marjorie Hoben, aka Marjorie Montjovier,73, a resident of Intervale Ave. in Richford, passed away on April 26, 2010 at Our Lady of the Meadows in Richford.

Marjorie was born on March 8, 1937 in Richford, the daughter of Raymond and Bertha (Fletcher) Hoben. She was a 1955 graduate of Richford High School.

Marjorie had resided in New York City for a time where she worked as a stenographer for a legal firm , secretary to the President of an import/export company, receptionist and model for a furrier, a receptionist/assistant to a subsidiary of Time-Life, for Mobil Oil, the New York Times, Proctor & Gamble and the American Can Company. Back in Vermont, she had a dog kennel for 12 years and, also, worked at the Richford Health Center.

Marjorie enjoyed reading and ballroom and Latin American dance. She was a breeder of Affenpinschers (toy dogs) and showed them in the US and Canada. In 1976, she was awarded the top winning award for her Affenpischer Kelso .

Surviving are Marjories brother Earl L. Hoben of St. Albans, a sister- in- law, Gloria Hoben; 2 nephews, James Hoben of Waterbury snd Jerry Hoben of Framingham, MA; her soul mate Osmin Montjovier of New York City; a cousin, whom she considered a kid sister , Debbie MacAuley of Naugatuck, CT; neighbor and friend, Donna Marsten, who shopped for her , cooked for her and cared for her during the months she was unable to care for herself; and a very special friend, Shirley Fletcher, with whom she resided for a while. She was at Marjories side right up until her death. Shirley was a great comfort to Marjorie during her illness, and held a special place in Marjories heart. Both strong willed women, they had a unique friendship and had total respect to each other.

In addition to her parents, Marjorie was predeceased by a brother Robert in 2002, her aunt Irene Baker and several cousins.

A gathering to share memories and enjoy refreshments will be held at the home of Shirley Fletcher, 74 Troy St. in Richford on May 16 from 1:00 to 4:00 PM.
