Enosburg Falls - Melvin R. Sweet, 69, a resident of East Street in Enosburg Falls died at his home on Wednesday evening, May 9 surrounded by his loving son and family.
Melvin was born on March 4, 1938 in St. Albans, the son of Elvin G. and Zoa (Wright) Sweet. He was a lifelong resident of the Enosburg-Bakersfield area.
Most of Melvins life was spent as a farmer. He also enjoyed working with horses and his favorite mule Jenny. Melvin was especially fond of the rides he took with his friend Gordon Thompson and their dog Scooter who they enjoyed together.
Surviving are Melvins son Elvin L. Sweet and his fiance, Tonya of Enosburg Falls; his grandchildren Jesse, Leeann, Dylan and Eric Sweet; his brother Edward Sweet and wife Sherry of St. Albans, his sister Doris Wedge and husband Kevin of Addison; brother-in-law Steven Blanchard of Enosburg; sister-in-law Sharlene Sweet of Enosburg; nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends Gordon and Lucius Thompson of Enosburg. Melvin was predeceased by 2 brothers Herbert and Chester Sweet, a sister Mildred Blanchard and a sister-in-law Corrine Sweet.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 15 at 11:00 AM at the Spears Funeral Home in Enosburg Falls with Pastor Patrick Hoadley officiating. Interment will follow in the Egypt Cemetery in East Fairfield. Friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 10:00 AM until the time of the service.
