ENOSBURG FALLS , VT - Merrill A. Jeffords, 88, longtime Enosburg resident, passed away on Monday evening, July 29, 2013 at Our Lady of the Meadows in Richford.
Merrill was born on June 30, 1925 in Berkshire, the son of Leon and Tessie (Libbey) Jeffords. He attended schools in Berkshire and Enosburg and graduated from Enosburg High School in the class of 1943.
In his younger years, Merrill was very active in the 4-H Club and raised many champion Ayshire dairy animals. Following graduation from high school he farmed until 1948 and then worked for Eastern States Farmers Exchange until 1968. From 1958 to 1968, Merrill was the assistant manager and field sales manager for the Enosburg store.
In 1968 Merrill purchased an IBA franchise and sold their products until August of 1990 when he retired.
Merrill is survived by his wife, Barbara (Longe) Jeffords of Enosburg; a son, Larry Jeffords and his wife Judy and granddaughter Alexandra of Chazy, NY and a granddaughter Julie Jones of Woodruff, NC; and a sister Shirley LeBeau and family of Clovis, CA. Also, his extended family, Deborah and Allen Demar and family, David and Kelly Kennison and family, Dale and Laurie Kennison and family, Danny and Tammy Kennison and family, Doreen and Kenneth Laplant and family, Mark and Lise LaRose and family, JoAnn and Michael Manahan and family, Timothy and Angel LaRose and family, Shawn and Nancy LaRose and family, Robert and Brenda Dominque and family and Ronald and Debbie Dominque and family.
In addition to his parents, Merrill was predeceased by his first wife, Luella (Rounds) Jeffords, mother of his children; his second wife, Laura (Dominque) Jeffords; third wife, Irene (LaRose) Jeffords; a son Danny L. Jeffords and a sister Lillian (Jeffords) Gervais.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 10, 2013 at 10:00 AM at the West Enosburgh United Methodist Church with Rev. Jon P. Bly officiating. Interment will follow in the Jeffords family lot in the Enosburgh Center Cemetery. There will be no calling hours.
