Michael L. Fuller

September 16, 1961 — August 23, 2023

RICHFORD - Michael Larry Fuller passed away on Wednesday, August 23, 2023, at the age of 61, at his home in Richford with family and friends at his side. He was born on September 16, 1961, in St. Albans, VT, the son of the late Melba (Fuller) Ryea.

Mike was a lifelong resident of Richford and had a career that included work at Rock Tenn Paper Mill in Sheldon, Over & Under Piping Contractors of Auburn, NY, and AL St Onge Contractor in Montgomery.  Mike was an accomplished multi-sport athlete and graduated from Richford High School in 1979, where he received Vermont Athlete of the Month honors for his success on the basketball court, where he scored 1,125 points in three seasons.  He was never someone you wanted to face on the opposing team, whether it was on the basketball court, softball field, or in a game of backyard wiffle ball.   As an avid sportsman, Mike enjoyed fishing and hunting and was still holding out hope, even in his final days, that his Oakland A’s and Cleveland Browns would win a title or two.

He is survived by his siblings, Eugene “George” Ryea Jr. and his wife, Holly, of Richford, Alan Ryea of Las Vegas, NV, Stacey (Ryea) St. Onge and her husband Randall of Montgomery, and Jody Ryea and his fiancée, Annie Stetson, of Richford; Uncle Bruce Fuller and his wife Sharon of Supply, NC and Bonnie Ellis, of Winthrop, ME.

Besides his mother, Melba and her husband Eugene “Jug” Ryea Sr., Mike is predeceased by Aunts, Josephine Boyce and her husband Errol and Beverly Mercy and her husband John; and Uncles, Walt Fuller and his wife Ardis, Lloyd “Pug” Fuller and his wife Jean, and Lyle “Shag” Fuller.

In keeping with Mike’s wishes, there will be no calling hours, and his life will be celebrated with a graveside service for family and friends on Sunday, September 3, 2023 at 1:00PM at the Richford Center Cemetery, South Richford Road in Richford. Loved ones are then encouraged to gather at the American Legion in Richford to celebrate Mike’s life.
