MONTGOMERY CENTER - Mitchell Harland Demar, age 77, husband of Therese (Robert) Demar, passed away Monday, February 21, 2011 at the St. Albans Health Care Facility in St. Albans.
He was born February 25, 1933 in Montgomery the son of the late Mitchell L. & Mabel (Arel) Demar.
Mitchell was a lifelong resident of Montgomery. He entered the U.S. Army serving during the Korean War. He was employed at the Rock-Tenn Paper Mill in Sheldon for 39 years retiring in 1994. Mitchell enjoyed riding his Skidoo, 4 wheeling, hunting and playing his guitar which he was self-taught. He was also an avid Yankee fan.
He is survived by his wife of nearly 60 years, Therese Demar of Montgomery Center. Mitchell & Therese were married June 30, 1951. He also survived by his sisters, Ruth Lepage of Huntington, MA, and Louise Wetherby of Charlestown, NH; and many nieces and nephews and their families. Besides his parents, Mitchell was predeceased by his brother, Robert Bud Demar; and his sisters, Rosanna Grant, Erma Deuso, Emaline Potvin.
Funeral services will be held Saturday February 26, 2011 at 11:00 AM at St. Isidores Catholic Church, 169 Mountain Rd., Montgomery Center with Rev. Karl Hahr celebrating the Mass of Christian burial. Interment will be later this spring in St. Isidores Cemetery in Montgomery Center.
Visiting hours will be held Friday from 6-8 PM at the Spears Funeral Home, 96 Dickinson Ave., Enosburg Falls.
