Monique Desautels

RICHFORD - Monique M. Desautels, age 89, passed away unexpectedly Sunday, April 19, 2015 at the Northwestern Medical Center in St. Albans.

She was born February 6, 1926 in St. Theodore DActon, Quebec the daughter of the late Jean Marc & Vitaline (Vincent) Fontaine.

Monique attended school in St. Theodore DActon, Quebec and married Gilles Desautels on June 12, 1948. Monique & Gilles made their home in Richford where they farmed and raised their family and were devoted members of All Saints Catholic Church. She had a love of nature, a love of family and was a loving spouse, mother & grandmother. She also enjoyed quilting, knitting, sewing of all kinds and gardening.

She is survived by her husband of nearly 67 years, Gilles Desautels of Richford; her children and their spouses, Francine & Marcel Parent of Bromont, Quebec, Jacques Desautels of Richford, Pauline Desautels of Vergennes, Louise & Dale Elwood of Franklin, Luc Desautels of Donalds, SC, Lucie & Steven Hill of Swanton & Christine & Joel Clark of Swanton; 20 Grandchildren & 18 Great Grandchildren; her sister, Noella Desautels and her husband Jean of Richford; many brothers & sisters-in-law; and many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Monique was predeceased by her siblings, Aline Jobin, Marc & Roch Fontaine.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 25, 2015 at 11:00 AM at All Saints Catholic Church, 152 Main St., Richford with Rev. Karl Hahr celebrating the Mass of Christian burial. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery. Family is invited to gather at the funeral home in Enosburg Falls on Saturday from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM.

Visiting hours will be held Friday from 6-9 PM at the Spears Funeral Home, 96 Dickinson Ave., Enosburg Falls.
