Nelson "Tuffy" Mulheron

ST. ALBANS– Nelson “Tuffy” Mulheron, age 86, passed away on Tuesday, December 13, 2022 at his Victoria Lane apartment.

He was born in Highgate Falls on August 30, 1936 to the late Arthur and Hazel (Minkler) Mulheron. He graduated from Highgate High School and on November 26, 1955, he married Carlene Curtis.

After graduation, Tuffy joined and proudly served in the U.S. Army National Guard. He had several jobs throughout his life including working for local farms, Eveready for 15 years, and then the New England Telephone Company as an electrician and equipment installer where he retired after 20 years. Carlene and Tuffy enjoyed time spent at their home in Highgate, their camp on Lake Carmi, and their properties in Florida. Even after his retirement he continued working, he worked in real estate, drove for GMTA and Publix. In his younger years, he looked forward to hunting, and fishing, and had a massive garden. Tuffy spent countless hours playing cards, completing crossword puzzles, watching Sunday football and westerns, taking trips to the casino, playing horseshoes, ping pong, bowling, and keeping up to date on his latest stock purchase(s). He loved being social, spending time with his family, making people laugh and telling a good joke!

He is survived by his children, Steven Mulheron and his wife Debbie of Highgate Center, Trudy Mulheron of Orange City, FL, and Wendy Brace of Swanton; grandchildren, James Jones Jr., Eugene Brace Jr., Allyson Hockhousen, Derek Jones, Katy McNeil, and Kristofer Mulheron; great grandchildren, Landon, Cheyenne, Savannah, Dakota, Owen, Jasmine, Abigail, Hannah, Lily, Maci, Christopher, and Stephen; great great grandchildren, Noah, Braveyn, Enzeyen, and Quevien; siblings, Allen Mulheron, Morris Mulheron and Deborah Menard; and many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Tuffy was predeceased by his wife of 60 years, Carlene Mulheron; daughter, Melanie Sartwell; grandson, Chad Sartwell; great grandson, William Tucker Jr.; and siblings, Thomas Mulheron, and Myrna Flanagan.

Family and friends are invited to Tuffy’s Life Celebration events to include visitation on Friday, December 16, 2022 from 4-7:00PM and a funeral service on Saturday, December 17, 2022 at 11:00AM at the Goss Life Celebration Home, 89 Grand Avenue, Swanton, VT 05448. Interment will follow at the Mulheron family lot in Riverside Cemetery in Swanton.
