MILTON – Nord W. Hovermann, age 72, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 6, 2022 after a courageous battle with health issues at the UVM Medical Center in Burlington.
He was born in Montreal, Quebec on January 27, 1950 to the late William & Audrey Hovermann, and step-mother, Olga (Bergmann) Hovermann.
Nord was born and raised in Chomedey Laval. Unbeknownst to him, Bonnie told her grandfather when she was 5 years old, that she was going to marry the paperboy who lived directly across the street. Several years later, Bonnie married Nord, the paperboy across the street, on May 19, 1979. Nord and Bonnie moved to the U.S. in 1995 when Nord’s job transferred him. The two made their home in Milton with their beloved dogs. Nord had an incredible love for dogs, a special connection with nature and loved sitting on the beach. They vacationed at a cabin in Northern Quebec every year. They enjoyed fishing, letting the dogs run free, bird watching and enjoying the great outdoors. Nord has a sweet tooth and enjoyed German food, especially red cabbage and pork roast. In their early years together, Nord “annoyed” Bonnie because he was too kind and helped everyone he possibly could. Years later, Bonnie gives Nord credit for helping her become a Pastor. With his incredible kindness and her spirituality, that’s what guided her to God to become the Pastor she is today.
He is survived by his life partner, soulmate, and wife, Pastor Bonnie Hovermann of Milton; his mother-in-law, Dorothy Wells; nieces, Natalie, and Kim; special cousins, Vicky and Witold Merkis; very special friends, Judy and Ed Sorrell; and his canine companions, Holly, Allie and Faith. Besides his parents, Nord was predeceased by his sister, Karin Gruenefeld; his stepmother, Olga Hovermann; and his father-in-law, Walter Wells.
Family and friends are invited to Nord’s life celebration events that will include visitation on Monday, November 14, 2022 from 5-7:00 PM at the Goss Life Celebration Home, 89 Grand Avenue, Swanton, VT 05488.
