POULTNEY - Norman C. Greenwood, age 84, passed away Wednesday morning May 13, 2015 at the Rutland Regional Medical Center.
He was born January 25, 1931 in Sheldon the son of the late Claude & Maude (Griggs) Greenwood.
Norman was a 1950 graduate of Enosburg Falls High School. On June 28, 1951 he married Mary Pudvah and they moved to Connecticut in 1952 returning to Vermont in 1996. He was the Head Custodian at the Glastonbury Public School in Glastonbury, CT retiring in 1996.
Norman enjoyed hunting and fishing with his brother and cousin. Initially a NY Yankee fan, he later became a follower of the Boston Red Sox. He also enjoyed traveling and going to Maine at least once a year. He raised New Zealand Reds and won numerous awards. His English Springer Spaniels and cars were the pride of his life.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Greenwood of Poultney; his son, Michael Greenwood of Middlebury; his daughter, Brenda Zajicek and her husband Mark of Poultney; his grandchildren, Nicole Cary and her fianc Dave Del Bianco of Rutland, Diana Parker and her husband Bruce of Whitehall, NY; his great grandchildren, Wesley , Alexa , Bryson, Kadence and Kaleb; his sister, Ruby Russell of Danvers, MA; his brother, James DeGrenier and his wife Louise of West Swanzey, NH; and his sister, June Woodland of Athol, MA; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father, Claude Greenwood and his mother, Maude (Griggs) DeGrenier.
A graveside service will be held Saturday, May 23, 2015 at 2:00 PM at the Montgomery Village Cemetery, Route 118, Montgomery. There will be no visiting hours.
