Norman "Ikey" Thompson

January 13, 1943 — June 15, 2015

ENOSBURGH - Norman L. Ikey Thompson, age 72, passed away peacefully and unexpectedly on Monday, June 15, 2015 at his home in Enosburgh.

He was born January 13, 1943 in Enosburgh to the late James & Marion (Wetherby) Thompson.

Ikey served 13 months in Vietnam and he was very proud of his service there. After returning home he met Linda Morse and they were married in December of 1968. Ikey spent time working as a farmer, carpenter and mason, but spent most of his career in concrete construction and even owned his own business for a period of time. He considered himself a jack of all trades - but master of none . His favorite hobby was junking which consisted of collecting, buying and selling junk metal, cars and tractors.

He leaves behind his loving wife of 46 years, Linda Thompson of Enosburgh; 2 special and loving daughters, Jodi Thompson and her significant other, Paul Stanhope of North Troy and Kelly Thompson and her significant other, John Nutting of Richford; his grandchildren, Jamie, Janessa, Macie & Zack; 1 great grandchild, Julian; a sister, Patricia Parker of Plattsburgh; a sister-in-law, Kimberly Morse of Powder Springs, GA; 2 brothers-in-law, Chauncey D. Morse of Manchester, VT and Jeffrey Morse of Richford; several nieces & nephews and many close friends including Jim, Jake, Terry, Donna, Adrianne & Gary. Besides his parents, Ikey was predeceased by his siblings, Roger Thompson, Bobby Thompson and his wife Winnie and Shirley Nutting and her husband Herb and a nephew, Rusty Thompson.

Ikey will be greatly missed by his family, but they take comfort in knowing he will be reunited with good friends Frank Meunier and Bob Stanhope.

A graveside memorial service with military honors will be held on Friday, June 19, 2015 at 11:00 AM in the Richford Center Cemetery. There will be no visitation.
