Norton Reed

ISLE LaMOTTE- Norton M. Reed, age 75, passed away Saturday morning, October 27, 2012 at his home with his loving family at his side.
He was born October 7, 1937 in Enosburgh the son of the late Newton & Dorothy (Robtoy) Reed.
Nort joined the U.S. Army in 1956 receiving his honorable discharge in 1958. He married Bertha Sis C. Jewett (daughter of the late Floyd & Beulah (Foote) Jewett) in 1959. In 1961 he bought the Church Hill Garage in Wingdale, NY which he ran until 1978 when he and Sis moved back to Vermont and opened the Rolling Acres garage in Berkshire. After retiring and selling their place in Berkshire in 2001, Nort and Sis traveled the United States before making their home in Isle LaMotte. Nort loved to hunt, fish, listen to country music and play the guitar and banjo.
He is survived by his wife, Bertha Sis Reed of Isle LaMotte; his son, Shane Reed and his wife Dawn of Enosburgh. Sherry Gaudette and her husband Raymond of Alburgh; his grandchildren, Faith & Lexi Reed of Enosburgh, and Josh Gaudette of Burlington & Eric Gaudette of Swanton ; his brother, Morton Reed and his wife Arbutus Babe of Enosburgh; sisters-in-law, Wanda Reed of West Berkshire, and Jeannine Beuhler of Pawling, New York; several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Nort was predeceased by his brothers, Rayburn & Darrell Reed.
A graveside memorial service will be held Friday, November 2, 2012 at 11:00 AM at the Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Church Street, Isle LaMotte. There will be no visiting hours.
