Berkshire - Olive A. Belanger, 84, passed away on Tuesday morning, July 31, 2012 at Franklin County Rehabilitation Center in St. Albans.
Olive was born on October 19, 1927 in Berkshire, the daughter of James E. and Martha (Peno) Bryce. She was a 1946 graduate of Enosburg Falls High School. She was first married to Roma Furkey who died on December 24, 1974.
Olive had been employed for many years as a nurse at Holiday House and Hurlbut Nursing Home in St. Albans. She was a member of St. John the Baptist Church in Enosburg Falls and a member of Tyler Branch Grange as well as Pomona State and National Grange. She had recently received her 50 year Grange membership plaque. She especially enjoyed mowing her lawn and working outside with her flowers. Olive was a caring person, always giving of herself and concerned for other people.
Surviving are her husband of 34 years, Emile A. Belanger, whom she married on January 3, 1978; 2 sisters, Shirley B. Barry of Johnson and Betty B. Kinney and her husband Sterling of Berkshire; a sister-in-law, Theresa Roy of St. Albans and brothers-in-law, Roland Belanger and his wife Mary Ann of Washington Depot, CT, Lucien Belanger and his wife Beverly of Sutton, VT and Raymond Belanger and his wife Kathy of Pensacola, FL; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and first husband, Olive was predeceased by a brother George E. Bryce, sisters Martha B. Beyor and Marlene Bryce and brother-in-law, Maurice Roy.
A Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, August 4, 2012 at 10:00 AM at St. John the Baptist Church in Enosburg Falls with the Rev. Roger Charbonneau officiating. Interment will follow in the Sheldon Village Cemetery. Friends are invited to call at the Spears Funeral Home on Saturday morning from 9:00 - 9:45 AM.
