RICHFORD - Patrick G. Desautels, age 53, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday April 15, 2012 at the Northwestern Medical Center in St. Albans.
He was born in St. Albans on December 29, 1958 the son of the late Germain & Rejeanne (Beaudoin) Desautels.
Pat was a lifelong resident of Richford and a 1976 graduate of Richford High School. Following graduation he entered the U.S. Navy serving from 1976 to 1982. Upon his honorable discharge, Pat joined the family business, Desautels Paving and became a co-owner in 1989 and operated it until 2009.
Pat was a member of All Saints Catholic Church and was a former member of the Parish Council at Our Lady of the Lourdes in East Berkshire. He was also a member of the American Legion Post # 12 of Richford. Pat was involved in the Berkshire community having served as Selectman, Road Commissioner and was a former member of the Berkshire Volunteer Fire Dept.
Pat enjoyed sugaring, camping, fishing, listening to Blue Grass music and going to Blue Grass Festivals, watching NASCAR and NHRA drag racing.
He is survived by his siblings, Pierre Desautels and his wife Ginger of Green Castle, PA, Daniel Desautels and his wife Deborah of Richford, Marjolaine Longe and her husband Patrick of Berkshire, Gilbert Desautels and his wife Sally of Richford, Sylvie Desautels and her husband Chris Wood of Tunbridge, Raymond Desautels and his companion Marlene Chates of Highgate, and Renee Patterson and her husband Larry of Montgomery; many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Friday, April 20, 2012 at 11:00 AM at All Saints Catholic Church, 152 Main St., Richford with Rev. Karl Hahr celebrating the Mass of Christian burial. Interment will take place at the convenience of the family in All Saints Cemetery.
Visiting hours will be held Thursday from 5-8 PM at the Spears Funeral Home, 96 Dickinson Ave., Enosburg Falls.
