RICHFORD - Paul A. Lacey, age 74, left for his spiritual home on Sunday evening, July 17, 2016 at the University of Vermont Medical Center. A recent resident of Richford, VT., Paul had been diagnosed with Stage III Melanoma in 2009. He survived and remained active, through many treatments until last week.
Paul was born January 11, 1942 in Buffalo, New York the son of the late Arthur & Thelma (Chapman) Lacey. While in school, he was active in music and sports. After high school, he studied business at Bucknell University and Rochester Institute of Technology. Most of his working life revolved around positions in accounting and sales projection for business.
His passion for music centered around classical organ and organ building. Before retirement, he and his wife Shareen (Harter), operated NAFCC accredited Childcare program in Cape Elizabeth, Maine for 15 years. He claimed that it was the best job of his life! Pauls humor was infectious, especially when the kids were around. Sharp wit and positive energy abounded throughout the house. The boys, called him Joe Logic .
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Shareen (Harter) Lacey of Richford; 4 sons, Kevin of South Portland, ME, Patrick of Hyde Park, VT, Christopher of Burlington, VT, and Roy & Pam of Highgate Springs, VT; 2 daughters, Laurie of Laconia, NH, and Toni of Essex, VT; 15 grandchildren and 7 greats ; several nieces and nephews. Paul was predeceased by his father, Arthur in 1979; his mother, Thelma in 2007; and his brother, Durwood in 2003.
A memorial service will be held Saturday August 13, 2016 at 1:00 PM at the First Baptist Church, 30 School Street, Richford. There will be no visiting hours.
Paul would not want flowers, instead he would wish for friends to do something kind and unexpected for someone else.
