FAIRFIELD - Philip E. Playful, age 73, passed away Sunday, March 16, 2014 at his home with his loving family at his side.
Phil was born in Morrisville on February 28, 1941 the son of the late Earl & Elsie (Chamberlain) Playful.
He graduated from Cambridge High School in 1959. Phil worked for CVPS for 38 years as a lineman, and then took early retirement in 1999. He then worked farming, sugaring, haying and getting wood out. Phil, like his father enjoyed the great outdoors. He enjoyed hunting, trapping, fishing and spending time at their camp on the mountain in Jeffersonville. His boys and Phil camped and hiked the mountains while hunting and getting fire wood. He shared this love with his family and friends. The past twelve years he has shared this joy with his very special nephew Nicholas Pond, whom he has taught to enjoy all the things he did and spent quality time together. Friends and family helped build an addition on to camp last fall and everyone will continue to enjoy it for years to come. He was a long time member of the NRA and the Trappers Association. Phil and Cindy got to take their dream trip to Alaska and Canada in 2011. They also enjoyed many trips to Maine with family and friends.
He was a great husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend to all. He is survived by his wife Cindy, sons Dennis, Gregory, Matthew and his partner Katie and daughters Wanda and husband Andy, Greta and husband Mark and grandson Jack, sister Mitchi King and husband John, brother-in-law Jim and Suz-anne Carpenter, sister-in-laws Mary Mason, Dianne and Arthur Tibbits, and Carole Carpenter. He was looking very forward to the arrival of his first granddaughter\u0027s birth the end of July. He also leaves many special nieces and nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents, in-laws John and Betty Carpenter and brother-in-law Louie Mason.
The family would like to thank Dr. Ades and his staff; Dr. Babb and his staff; Franklin County Home Health and staff; and the staff on the Oncology Floor at FAHC.
