ENOSBURG FALLS - Pierre Matthew Poissant, 89, beloved brother, uncle, and cherished friend, passed away peacefully on January 24, 2025 at the University of Vermont Medical Center surrounded by the love of his family.
Born in Enosburg Falls, VT to the late Bernard and Mary Ellen (Quinn) Poissant, Pierre is survived by his devoted sister, Denise P. Brault of Burlington, VT, and five nieces and nephews: Michael (Denise) Brault of Vermont, Stephen (Paula) Brault of Massachusetts, Mary (George) Bittner of Vermont, Margaret Brigham of Vermont, and James (Elise) Brault of Florida. Pierre had twelve grandnieces and nephews, and five great-grandnieces and nephews.
Pierre was a life-long resident of Enosburg Falls and known to many for his love of conversation, details, and history. He graduated from St. Mary's High School in St. Albans, VT in 1954 and went into the Air Force and was discharged at the rank of Sergeant in 1958. Pierre then attended Saint Michael's College in Colchester, VT and was employed by the Enosburg Post Office and Fonda Container Company. He joined IBM in 1965 and retired in 1990.
Pierre loved skiing and was a former member of the National Ski Patrol at Smuggler's Notch. He loved to travel, was an avid gardener, and an active member of St. John the Baptist Parish in Enosburg.
His family is especially grateful to the caregivers and staff of Our Lady of Providence Residence in Winooski and Green Mountain Nursing and Rehabilitation in Colchester for their care in his last years.
A Mass of Christian Burial is planned at St. John the Baptist Church, 62 Missisquoi Street, Enosburg Falls, on Tuesday, February 18, 2025 at 11:00 AM. Interment will be held this spring in St. John the Baptist Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Pierre's memory may be made to Green Mountain Nursing and Rehabilitation, 475 Ethan Allen Avenue, Colchester, VT 05446.
