BAKERSFIELD - Ramona C. Stone, age 81, passed away Monday evening, July 30, 2012 at the Franklin County Rehab Facility in St. Albans.
She was born February 16, 1931 in St. Albans the daughter of the late Oscar & Hilda (Arel) Lazure.
Ramona was a loving mother and grandmother who devoted her life to raising her family. She was an active member of St. Anthonys Catholic Church in East Fairfield where she was also a former member of the church choir. She enjoyed crocheting, singing, playing BINGO, in her younger years Tap Dancing, puzzles, reading and traveling. She loved to cook especially for family or community events. In her later years she volunteered her time to the Foster Grandparent Program in St. Albans.
She is survived by her children, Harold Stone and his wife Sue (Dufresne) of Bakersfield, Russell Stone of Bakersfield, Cynthia Gokey of Bakersfield, Roger Stone and his wife Gloria (Gokey) of Enosburg Falls, Ivan Stone and his wife Lisa (Sonski) of Bakersfield, Pamela Mudgett and her husband Michael of Bakersfield, and Hazen Stone of Bakersfield; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; her sister, Antoinette Toni Kennison of Enosburg Falls; several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Ramona was predeceased by her husband, Calvin Wheeler Stone on July 2, 1994. Ramona & Calvin were married February 16, 1946. She was also predeceased by her son-in-law, David Gokey Sr.; her daughter-in-law, Mary (Tinker) Stone; and her sister, Cecilia Lussier.
Funeral services will be held Friday, August 3, 2012 at 10:00 AM at St. Anthony/St. Georges Catholic Church, 9491Route 36, East Fairfield with Rev. William Giroux celebrating the Mass of Christian burial. Interment will be held at the convenience of the family in the Maple Grove Cemetery in Bakersfield.
Visiting hours will be held Thursday from 6-8 PM at the Spears Funeral Home, 96 Dickinson Ave., Enosburg Falls.
