Raymond Fisk

Albany, NY/Fairfield, VT - Raymond David Fisk, 80 died on Tuesday, May 3, 2011 at his home in Albany.

Raymond was born on November 21, 1930 in Berkshire, VT, the son of George and Delia (Deuso) Fisk. He attended schools in Fairfield and Brigham Academy in Bakersfield, VT. Following high school, Raymond joined the US Army Infantry and saw action in the Korean War.

Following his return to Vermont in 1953, Raymond worked in the Fairfield area for a number of years and later worked for Ethan Allen Furniture in Orleans, VT. Raymond loved to cook and, in the 1980s, became The Cook at the Capital City Rescue Mission in Albany, NY. Upon his retirement in 1997, Albany Mayor Gerald Jennings proclaimed a Ray Fisk Day on August 28, 1997. Ray had prepared and served over 700,000 meals at the mission.

Raymond leaves a sister-in-law, Edith Fiske of Enosburg Falls as well as nieces and nephews, Larry and Marty Fiske, Susan Chapman and Gary and Sharon Fiske of Enosburg Falls, Wayne and Nancy Fiske of Franklin, Kenneth and Joanne Fiske of Montgomery Center, Patricia Cummins of Columbia, NC, Polly and Leon Bushey of Fairfield, Theresa Smith of Bakersfield, Reginald and Ruth Fiske of Swanton, Carolyn and Harvey Bushey of Franklin and James Judd of Lebanon, NH; an aunt, Charlotte Deuso of Montgomery and several great nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, George and Delia Fisk, Raymond was predeceased by a sister Louise (Peggy) Judd and brothers, William (Bill), Charles (Charlie) and Homer several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, May 9, 2011 at 2:00 PM at the Spears Funeral Home, 96 Dickinson Ave. in Enosburg Falls with Pastor Patrick Hoadley officiating. Interment, with military honors, will follow in the Berkshire Center Cemetery. Friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Monday from 1:00 to 2:00 PM
