FAIRFIELD - Raymond Grump Alton Sweet, age 83, passed away at his home on his birthday Wednesday morning, May 18, 2011.
He was born May 18, 1928 in Fairfield the son of the late Robert E. & Henrietta Mary (Therrien) Sweet.
Raymond was a lifelong resident of Fairfield where he worked on several area dairy farms and had worked for the Town of Fairfield. Raymond enjoyed puttering around his home, gardening and watching the birds. Most of all he loved to be with his family.
He is survived by his siblings, Frederick Sweet and Ethel Sweet of Fairfield with whom Raymond shared his home with. Also, Gordon Sweet of Highgate Center, George Sweet and his wife Linda of LaGrande, OR, Robert Sweet and his wife Gloria of Sheldon, Ronnie Sweet and his wife Carol of Georgia, Dorothy Draper of St. Albans, and Shirley Burnor and her husband Terrance of Wilberham, MA; several nieces and nephews; and his Home Health Team, Lisa Phillips, Sophia Greenia, Ann Grandchamp, and Pattie-Ann Draper. Besides his parents, Raymond was predeceased by his best friend and uncle, Edward Therrien.
Per Raymonds wishes there will be no funeral services or visiting hours. He will be cremated and he will be laid to rest in the Sheldon Village Cemetery.
