COWANSVILLE, QUE / RICHFORD, VT - Raymond Theriault, age 89, passed away Sunday November 2, 2008 at the Brome Missisquoi Perkins Hospital in Cowansville.
He was born August 13, 1919 in Trois Pistoles, Quebec Canada the son of the late Joseph & Zelma (Rioux) Theriault.
Raymond was a resident of Cowansville for the past 33 years. He was a former resident of Brattleboro, VT where he worked at a saw mill and also Richford, VT where he operated a dairy farm as well as worked as a hired hand at other area dairy farms. He also was a heavy equipment operator for 8 years at the James Bay power project. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council # 2610 of All Saints Parish in Richford. He enjoyed woodworking, carpentry, hooking rugs, carving model sleighs and working with leather specializing in making horse harnesses.
He is survived by his wife, Georgett (Parent) Benoit - Theriault of Cowansville. They were married January 27, 1968. He is also survived by his step-children, Pierre Benoit and his wife Betty of Franklin, VT, Sue Selby and her husband John of Greenville, NC, and Ginette Pigeon and her husband Donald of Fairfax, VT; a daughter-in-law, Madeleine Benoit of Berkshire, VT; 10 step grandchildren and 15 step great-grandchildren; his siblings and their spouses, Roland & Deliema Theriault of Dunham, Que., Jeanette Pelepier of St. Guy, Que., Romeo & Dorothy Theriault of Bloomfield, CT, Dorothy Dancause of New Brunswick, Marie Marth & Robert Brouillette of Sheldon, VT, John Mark Theriault of Dunham, Que., Irene Marie Theriault of Frelighsburg, Que.; sister-in-law, Lise Theriault of St. Jean, Que.; several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Raymond was predeceased by a step-son, Gille Benoit; siblings, Beatrice Sirois, Henery Theriault, Albert Theriault, Lionel Theriault, and Lauret Fournier; brothers-in-law & sisters-in-law, Jacquest Sirois, Abraham Pelepier, Rene Dancause, Pierrette Theriault, and Arthur Fournier.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday November 11, 2008 at 11:00 AM at All Saints Catholic Church in Richford, VT with Rev. Karl Hahr celebrating the Mass of Christian burial. Interment will follow in St. John the Baptist Cemetery in Enosburg Falls, VT. There will be no visiting hours.
