BERKSHIRE - Rene Marcel Martel, age 61, passed away Tuesday, September 21, 2010 at the Redstone Villa Nursing Home in St. Albans.
Rene was born June 2, 1949 in Berkshire, VT the son of the late Marcel A. & Lucille (Laroche) Martel.
He attended Berkshire Elementary School and graduated from Kaiserslautern High School in Kaiserslautern, Germany. He entered the U.S. Army serving from 1970 to 1973. He then re-enlisted in the Army serving from 1974 to 1995 receiving an honorable discharge with the rank of 1SG. During Renes tour in Vietnam he received the Bronze Star.
Rene enjoyed making and flying R/C Planes, flying, and riding motorcycles and snowmobiles.
He is survived by his wife Rebbecca (Leonard ) Martel of Richford. Rene & Becky were married in San Francisco, Ca on January 27, 1974. He is also survived by his siblings and their spouses, Jane & Germaine Laroche of Freedom, NY, Joseph & Diane Martel of Richford, and Lorraine & Richard Bourassa of Colchester; several nieces and nephews.
In keeping with Renes wishes there will be no funeral services or visiting hours.
