RICHFORD— Richard A. Lagasse, age 72, passed away on Saturday, June 19, 2021 surrounded by family at his home in Richford.
He was born in Nashua, NH on October 31, 1948, the son of the late Adrian and Violet (Anderson) Lagasse.
Richard grew up on the border of NH and MA until his family purchased a farm in Canada in 1961. He spent many years working for a chicken farmer, and a catering business where he once served President Ford, but his passion and career throughout his life was carpentry. He married Lorraine Claveau on August 24, 1970 and they raised their family in New Hampshire, Maine, Vermont, Florida, and eventually settled in Richford, VT. When he wasn’t working, he enjoyed go cart racing in his younger years, playing games and cards, completing what seemed to be never ending puzzles, and watching western TV. Richard’s biggest pleasure in life was spending time with his grandchildren and being involved with all aspects of their lives. He lived a life of old-fashioned values encompassing hard work, and a love of family.
He is survived by his children, Robert Letendre and his wife Betty of Williston, FL, David Letendre and his wife Nicole of Richford, Timothy Lagasse and his wife Kelly of Montgomery, Stephanie Stanhope and her husband Jason of Montgomery, Jason Lagasse of Richford, and Shaun Lagasse of Richford; 17 grandchildren, Matthew, Cheyenne, Hunter, Patrick, Mandy, Tabitha, Alexis, Ethan, Samuel, Jonas, Leah, Isaias, Gabriel, Shane, Emily, Blake, and Keegan; 11 great grandchildren; siblings, Norman, Anita, JoAnne, and Claudette; and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Richard was predeceased by his wife of 48 years, Lorraine Lagasse; a daughter, Melissa Heaton; and his siblings, Robert, and Dennis.
