BERKSHIRE– Robert “Bob” Conger Jr., age 72, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, September 4, 2021 at the Geisinger Medical Center in Pennsylvania.
He was born in St. Albans on November 21, 1948 to the late Robert Conger Sr. and Jeanette (Menard) Rounds.
Bob became independent at a young age and began his trucking career at 18. He met the love of his life Sheila Blow and the two were married on June 20, 1970. He trucked for Pepsi, Coca-Cola and most recently Prime Inc. for 24 years where he and his wife drove together from coast to coast. Bob had just received his 3 million safe miles award, to be added to a long list of awards he had received in his 54 years of trucking. Trucking was more than a career to Bob; it was a way of life. When he wasn’t on the open road, he enjoyed spending time in the woods hunting with his sons and looked forward to their yearly trips to Ontario. He also was an avid fisher and loved to charter with the Yankee Fleet Fishing Adventures in MA. Bob was a “tell it like it is” kind of man and was quick to let you know exactly what he was thinking. He was tough, liked to wind people up with a good joke, and loved deeply.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Sheila Conger of Enosburg Falls; sons, Robert “Bobby” Conger III and his wife Amy, and Bradly Conger Sr. and his wife Angie all of Berkshire; grandchildren, Kyra, Robert IV, Bradly Jr., Bree, Isaiah, Noah, Keith, Devin, Andrew, and Shelby; great grandchildren, Easton and Oliver; siblings, Lucinda Stetson and her husband Norman, Deborah Billado and her husband Al, Sylvia Brock and her husband Chuck, and Donna Conger; several nieces and nephews; and his beloved four-legged companion, Rudy. Besides his parents, Bob was predeceased by his siblings, Kim Conger, Barbara Conger, Gary Conger, and Dale Conger Sr.; and his cherished dog, Rufus.
