Robert "Bob" Cota

June 23, 1942 — January 7, 2012

MONTGOMERY CENTER - Robert Bob Cota peacefully passed away with his immediate family by his side on January 7, 2012.

Bob was born on June 23, 1942 in Lowell, Vermont, the son the late Leon and Katherine (Crandall) Cota.

Bob, an Army Veteran, loved Vermont and its community. He coached Little League Baseball, served on the Montgomery Water Board, was the Montgomery Fire Department Chief for many years, but his belief to help those in need is what he is best known for.

Bob is survived by his wife of 49 years, Sandie, and their sons Dana, his wife Kelly and their two sons Evan and Connor, and son Marty and daughter Krystal. He also leaves behind his brother Eric, his wife Jo, and their children Jim and Lynn, his brother Ken and daughter Heather, and his sister Kathy and Husband Forest, mother in-law Evelyn Hart, and a beloved list of nieces and nephews.

Bob enjoyed spending time with his two grandsons and his special moment was watching his grandson Evans first successful deer hunt. His other loves included playing poker, a good game of gin, cribbage, or pool.

In keeping with Bobs wishes, his memorial will be simple. A gathering of friends will be held at the American Legion, Post 42, in Enosburg on Saturday January 14, 2012 at 2:00 pm. The family requests in lieu of gifts, a generous memorial donation be forwarded to the American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 11454, Alexandria, VA 22312 in Bob Cotas name.

Also in keeping with Bobs wishes, a celebration of life party will be held at the Cota Camp during the summer of 2012. The day will include a spreading of ashes in the places that Bob loved most, a muzzle loader salute, and a life celebration memorial service. The date will be announced at the convenience of the Cota family.
