RICHFORD - Robert Dobby Joseph Durenleau, age 79, passed away Thursday evening April 12, 2012 at his home with his loving family at his side.
He was born June 4, 1932 in Franklin the son of the late Hermengil & Marion (Gagne) Durenleau.
Dobby was a U.S. Army veteran and a Vermont National Guard veteran. He was former member of the American Legion Post # 12 of Richford. He worked for 28 years at the Missisquoi Pulp Mill in Sheldon. Dobby loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter, trapper and fisherman. He also enjoyed following his favorite baseball team, the New York Yankees.
He is survived by his wife, Joyce (Morgan) Durenleau of Richford; his children and their spouses, Debra Reid of Richford, Darlene & Real Chalifoux of Richford, Diane & David Royea of Newport, Doreen Elwood of Richford, Donald Durenleau of St. Albans, and Denise & Paul Martin of Winooski; 13 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren; his brother, Daniel Durenleau and his wife Doris of Franklin; several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Dobby was predeceased his sisters, Yvette Durenleau, Madelane Salisbury and Margaret Paquette; his brothers, Donat, Norman and Rene Durenleau.
Visiting hours will be held at the Spears Funeral Home, 96 Dickinson Ave., Enosburg Falls on Monday April 16, 2012 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM with a prayer service starting at 1:00 PM. Graveside committal prayers with military honors will follow in St. Louis Cemetery in Highgate.
