SHELDON SPRINGS, VT / DAYTONA BEACH, FL - Robert J. Jimmy Jackson, age 70, rejoined his son Jamie when he passed away unexpectedly Saturday morning February 5, 2011 at the Tampa General Hospital in Tampa, FL with his loving wife by his side.
Jimmy was born in Sheldon on March 13, 1940 and was a graduate of Enosburg High school class of 1958.
After graduating high school Jimmy volunteered for the draft, and in 1959 he was stationed in Germany, where he spent 2 years. After being relived of active duty in 1961 he returned home. Upon his arrival he had a dream that he would soon marry the love of his life, and did just that on August 19, 1961 when he married Mary-Paule Crepeau of Sheldon. Jim and Mary made their home in Enosburg, where he worked as a bread man and milk peddler, eventually they moved to Sheldon Springs where they raised their family of 5. Soon after they moved to Sheldon Jimmy began working for Rock-Tenn, where he retired as a supervisor with more than 30 years of service. After retirement Jim and Mary spent many hours attending their grandchildrens events and traveled to Florida during the winters.
He was an avid sports fan and loved to golf, he also coached the Sheldon Little League Giants for many years. He followed his children and grandchildren through their sports endeavors enthusiastically and was always their biggest fan, youve probably heard him at a game or two. His life touched many people, he loved life and loved to live.
Jimmy was predeceased by his son, Jamie Jackson in 1987, and he leaves behind his wife of 50 years, Mary-Paule Jackson; 4 children, a daughter Kelly Jackson (Goss) and her companion Butch Bailey of Sheldon, her children Matthew and Adam and their father Tom all of Enosburg; a daughter Kimberly Stone and her husband Carl of East Fairfield, their children Jaime, Jenna and Jordan; a son David Jackson and his wife Kristin of Enosburg, their children Ethan and Erin; a son Michael Jackson of Sheldon and his daughter Taylor, her mother Judi of St. Albans; and many close friends and relatives.
A funeral service will be held on Friday February 11, 2011 at 11:00 AM in the St. John the Baptist Church, 222 Missisquoi St. Enosburg Falls, with Rev. Daniel Jordan celebrating the Mass of Christian burial. Interment will be held this spring at St. Anthonys Catholic Cemetery in Sheldon Springs.
A time of visitation will be held Thursday from 5-8 PM at the Spears Funeral Home, 96 Dickinson Ave., Enosburg Falls.
