ENOSBURG FALLS - Robert M. Young, age 95, passed away Sunday, March 11, 2012 at Our Lady of the Meadows in Richford.
He was born on October 3 1916 and raised in South Starksboro, VT as part of the Quaker Community. Robert was the only son of four children of the late Robert H. & Elizabeth (Birdsall) Young.
Bob was a 1938 Graduate of the University of Vermont. He married Pauline Gleason on November 29, 1946. His professional career started with Farmers Home Administration and he was a self-employed insurance agent representing Modern Woodman of America as well as a tax preparer.
Bob was an active community member of Enosburg Falls serving on the Village Planning Commission, President of the Missisquoi Cemetery Association, Past Master of the Lincoln Lodge #78 F&AM, Melvin Jones recipient of the Enosburg Falls Lions Club, Trustee of the United Methodist Church, and one of the founding members of the Enosburg Falls Country Club. He was also a founding member of the Vermont Tax Practitioners. One of Bobs favorite activities was keeping the lawns mowed from the Methodist Church to the Masonic Hall and everything else that looked like it needed a little tiding up on his way home.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Pauline (Gleason) Young of Enosburg Falls; 2 sons and their wives, Robert J. & Lauren Young of Enosburg Falls and Michael & Lara Young of Telluride, CO; 2 daughters, Marsha Phillips of Montgomery Center and Pamela Parsons and her husband Daniel of Richford; 9 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Bob was predeceased by his 3 sisters; and his son-in-law, Gary Phillips.
A memorial service will be held Sunday, March 18, 2012 at 2:00 PM at the Enosburg Falls United Methodist Church, 245 Church St., Enosburg Falls with Rev. Jon Bly officiating. Interment will be held at the convenience of the family in the Missisquoi Cemetery. There will be no visiting hours.
