RICHFORD - Rodney R. Wood, Sr.,54, a resident of River Street in Richford passed away on Monday morning, December 1, 2008 at Fletcher Allen Health Care in Burlington surrounded by his family.
Rodney was born on May 12, 1954 in Burlington, the son of Rudolph and Lena (Bigue) Wood. Most recently, he had worked as a driver for Network Transit in Franklin County. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed hunting with his boys, fishing with his brothers, watching baseball, especially his favorite Red Sox, playing horseshoes and bowling. He bowled on the B&D Bowling Team.
Surviving are his beloved sons and best friends Rodney Wood, Jr. and his fiance Shelly, John Wood and his wife Amanda and Jeremy Wood and his best friend Mike Paquette, Jr. who Rodney regarded as his surrogate son, all of Richford; his significant other Crystal Paquette of Richford; his mother Lena (Bigue) Wood of Milton; his grandchildren Brandon and Marissa Wood and Ryan Morris; his siblings Robin Wood and his wife Bonnie of Georgia and Randy Wood and his wife Penny of Milton, Patsy Hart and her husband Eric, Sr. of Colchester, Rosemarie Benson and her husband Bobbie of Milton, Linda Lamphere and her husband Clarence of Milton, Mary Lafromboise and her husband Danny of Milton; his ex wife and best friend Rose Hanson and her husband Mike; his step children William Bean and Crystina Paquette; his step grandchildren Jacob Bean, Alicia Bean, Aries Reed, Memphis Reed and Caleb Landry; his favorite uncle Gene Wood; special friends Joe Desmaris and family; many loving nieces and nephews; and brothers and sisters-in-law Grace Martin and Pete Combs, Kathy and Togo Berger, Annie Button, Loretta and Raymond Martin, Joan Lafromboise and Alan Levick, Jonny and Mary Boylan and Allan Boylan and Sherrie Walker. In addition to his father, Rodney was predeceased by a sister-in-law Esther Boomhower and his mother-in-law Barbara Boylan.
The Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, December 6 at 11:00 AM at All Saints Catholic Church in Richford. Calling hours will be private for family members. Interment will take place next spring in St. Patricks Cemetery in Fairfield.
