Roland Jacobs

SWANTON - Roland Jacobs, age 95, passed away Friday, November 29, 2012 at the Fletcher Allen Health Care Facility in Burlington.

He was born in Richford on September 11, 1917 the son of the late Wallace & Alida (Couture) Jacobs.

Roland has been a resident of Swanton for the past 18 years and was a former resident of Richford, Berkshire, St. Albans and Connecticut. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time outdoors. Roland married Geraldine (Perron) Jacobs on June 7, 1943 they were together for 68 years when she passed in 2011. Throughout his working career Roland spent more than 40 years farming. In his later years he enjoyed reading and gardening.

He is survived by his son, Dennis Jacobs and his wife Simone of Richford; his daughter, Betty Benoit her husband Pierre of Franklin; his grandchildren, Roxanne Tanner and her husband Robert and their son David, Karen Jacobs and her children, Kayla & Kenyon, Jody Benoit and his wife Kathy and their children, Logan & Camryn, Laurie Benoit and her partner Keith Phelps and John Jacobs and his partner Diane Tatro and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Roland was predeceased by his wife, Geraldine Jacobs; 2 sons, Robert & Gary Jacobs; and his siblings, Wesley Jacobs and Beatrice (Jacobs) Desmarais.

A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, December 9, 2012 at 2:00 PM at Spears Funeral Home, 96 Dickinson Ave., Enosburg Falls, VT with Rev. Karl Hahr officiating. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery, Rt. 105, Richford. There will be no visiting hours.
