ST.ALBANS / ALBURGH - Ruth L. Judd -
It was a beautiful cold sunny afternoon on January 19, 2012 when the Angels assisted Our Lord and Savior in delivering Ruth Linnie (Miller; Place) Judd to her eternal resting place in Heaven.
Ruth was born on September 04, 1927 in Newport, VT, to Olin A and Alma J (Sweet) Miller. She lived in North Troy, was a graduate of the Class of 1945 and enjoyed attending her Alumni\u0027s until her health in the past few years hasn\u0027t allowed her to make the trip. For many years Ruth was a Homemaker taking care of her daughters and other family members. She later worked at the Weyerhauser Veneer Mill as a veneer grader. Ruth also worked for the Visiting Nurse Association for 15 years working mainly in the "Grand Isle County area". In 1969 she married Roy G Judd in East Franklin, in June of 1969, they moved to Fairfield, VT until retirement from The Farm. At that time they moved to Alburgh and made their home at Pine Manor for the next 20+ years. Ruth was also a Volunteer Foster Grandmother for grades 1 and 2 at the Alburgh School and took this job very seriously for 11 years helping the little children and showing them extra love and that someone cares. Ruth attended Care Partners in St. Albans for over a decade and was a key part in helping with decisions for the new building to make sure the residence needs were met. After her husband pre-deceased her on 01/16/10 she made her home at The Franklin County Rehab and Adult Ctr.
Ruth was involved with many activities at the Rehab Ctr. and was a participant on the Residence Council Committee, participated in the chorus and always loved bowling on Friday mornings using the WII.
Ruth belong to many organizations over her lifetime and most recently was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post # 60 in Alburgh VT. Has held many past offices and being part of many committees for the American Legion Jay Peak Unit # 28 Ladies Auxiliary. Counselor at Girls State 1949 and winning the Model Town Award. She was a Phytian Sister Unit # 12 and held many offices there as well. Junior Womens Club Pres. 4-H Club leader in North Troy and Fairfield for over 20+ years. Also during her years in North Troy she was very active in the United Church of Christ as a member and past Superintendent of Sunday School. Ruth was a supporter of "the Grassroots" communicating her support and opinions on many issues relating to the elderly and there rights. Also received the Volunteer Community Service Award from Past Governor Howard Dean.
Ruth was very proud of her family and leaves a legacy of love and will be dearly missed by her Children Deborah and husband Arnold Bolio of Middlesex, Karleen Ruth Place of Fairfield, Dianne Rounds and husband Ted of Essex Jct, Diane Judd and partner Gary Wilson of St. Albans, Rodney Judd of Fairfield, Gary Judd and wife Leisha of Franklin, Tammy Cook and partner Leo Roberge of St. Albans, Patti Judd of Swanton. Her sister Pauline Terwilliger of Fairfax. 12 Grandchildren, 18 (plus 1 to be born in March) Great Grandchildren and 2 (plus 1 due any day) Great Great Grandchildren. She held a very special angel close to her heart "Little Charlie" who was the sunshine on a cloudy day he lit up any room he was in and visited weekly, he was a star with all the residents and the workers. She has many furry Grand-Dogs as well that always loved going to gram\u0027s to get a special treat. Special Niece Tammy Dee Ryan of Fletcher and Nephew Robert "Bobby" Miller of FL who made his way yearly to visit her. Many nieces and nephews, sister in laws, Marge Place of NH, Evelyn Judd of Ontario, brother in law and wife Sidney and Madeline Judd of Sutton, Quebec.
Ruth was pre-deceased by her parents, her first born daughter Shirley Ann Place, husband Roy, Brothers Charles and Lee and son Dale Judd.
Ruth was a kind hearted, loving individual that would make you smile and laugh even on your worse day, she was a friend to everyone. She was loved by her care attendants and all of the Rehab staff and she equally cared and loved them, always willing to listen and lend her advice. Ruth was a woman of faith and had a great love for her Lord Jesus.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, January 28, 2012 at 1:00 PM at the East Franklin Union Church, 4610 Lake Road, East Franklin. A luncheon hosted by the Franklin & East Franklin United Women will be held at the Franklin Homestead - FELCO Room immediately following the memorial service. Interment will take place next spring in the Newport Center Cemetery.

The family would like to thank all the staff at Franklin County Rehab for the love and support given to their Mother and for going above and beyond. As Ruth would always tell you "thank you until you are better rewarded" she loved you all as her own.
