ENOSBURG FALLS - Sally A. Gelbar, age 70, passed away Thursday, May 7, 2015 at the St. Albans Healthcare & Rehabilitation Center.
She was born, September 8, 1944 in Richford the daughter of the late, Landon & Blanche (Maynard) Gelbar.
Sally was a lifelong resident of Enosburg and was a 1963 graduate of Enosburg Falls High School. She was also a member of the West Enosburgh United Methodist Church. Sally devoted her life to caring for people which started when her sister Barbara became ill and Sally stepped in to help take care of her children. Through the years she took care of many elderly and children throughout the county. She was also the primary care giver to her parents in their later years.
Sally was an avid NASCAR fan and enjoyed attending Thunder Road & Catamount with her father. She also enjoyed snowmobiling and going to the local fairs with him. Her many hobbies included, knitting, crocheting, cross stich embroidery and watching the food and games channels.
She is survived by her siblings and their spouses, Suzanne & James Marshall of Berkshire, Linda & Roy Carpenter of Enosburgh, Alan & Betty Gelbar of Rutland, and Nancy & George Severance of Mesa, AZ; her brother-in-law, Richard Colburn of St. Albans; many nieces and nephews who were all very dear to Sally. Besides her parents, Sally was predeceased by her sister, Barbara Colburn; and her nephew, Gary Colburn.
Funeral services will be held Friday, May 15, 2015 at 1:00 PM at the Spears Funeral Home, 96 Dickinson Ave., Enosburg Falls with her nephew, Bob Marshall officiating. Interment will follow in the Enosburgh Center Cemetery.
A time of visitation will be held at the funeral home on Friday from 12:00 PM until to hour of the funeral.
