ENOSBURG FALLS - Seslof G. Markowski, age 94, passed away Wednesday November 26, 2008 at the Brownway Residence in Enosburg Falls.
He was born in Englewood, NJ on June 13, 1914 the son of the late William & Lillian (Biermanoski) Markowski.
He moved to Enosburg Falls in 1988 to be closer to his sister. He was a former resident of New Jersey where he was employed as a postal worker in Englewood for 23 years and owned Marks Delicatessen in Dumont for 3 years. He also lived in Laurens, New York where he worked as a school and charter bus driver for 20 years.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran of WWII serving as a chief gunners mate on the USS Seneca. He was a 41 year member of the American Legion, and past commander of Post 1688 in Laurens, NY.
He is survived by a niece and 3 nephews and their families, Marion & Russell Schofield of Mahwah, NJ, John & James Vogel of Venice, FL, and Edward Vogel of Dumont, NJ.; and his many friends at the Brownway Residence whom the family is very much thankful for the friendship provided to Seslof over the years.
Besides his parents he was predeceased by his wife, Edna (Kahl) Markowski in 1987; 2 sisters, Nellie Vogel, and Virginia Sumner and her husband George.
A time of visitation will be held Monday December 1, 2008 from 4-7 PM at the Spears Funeral Home, 96 Dickinson Ave., Enosburg Falls with a prayer service being held at 7:00 PM at the funeral home. Interment will be held next spring in the Laurens Village Cemetery in Laurens, New York.
