BERKSHIRE / FRANKLIN - Shelby J. Wetherby, age 78, passed away Friday, December 25, 2015 with her family at her side at the home of her niece, Lori Thompson with whom she made her home during her illness.
She was born in St. Albans on July 23, 1937 the daughter of the late, George & Viola (Cross) Levick.
Shelby was a resident of Berkshire most of her life and was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Enosburg Falls. She worked as a clerk at Jewett store in Berkshire Center, cleaned houses with Lucille Lothian and worked in the Hot Lunch Program at the Franklin Elementary School. She loved playing Yatzee and enjoyed bowling in the Dairy Center leagues. She was also active in assisting Bernard with the Boy Scouts. Shelby was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother and thoroughly loved the time spent with her family.
She is survived by her children, David Wetherby of Berkshire and Peter Wetherby of Richford; her daughter-in-law, Kathy Wetherby of Hyde Park; her grandchildren, Jason Wetherby and his wife Deidra, Heather Barton and her husband Robert, Dustin Wetherby and his girlfriend Chelsea Gilbert & Glen Wetherby; her great grandchildren, Scarlet, Isabella, Keelie, Kaelynn & Kylah; her sister, Carla Nichols of Cassville, MO; her brother-in-law, Cecil Wetherby and his wife Hilda of Highgate; several nieces and nephews including a very special niece Lori Thompson and her husband Lester Tom of Franklin. Besides her parents, Shelby was predeceased by her husband, Bernard Wetherby; daughter, Linda Wetherby; brother, Edwin Pete Levick and his wife Eleanor; and 2 sisters, Peggy Lontine & Edna Britch.
Visiting hours will be held Wednesday, December 30, 2015 from 6-8 PM at the Spears Funeral Home, 96 Dickinson Ave., Enosburg Falls. Interment will be held at the convenience of the family in the St. Louis Cemetery in Highgate Center.
