RICHFORD - Shirley A. Flood, age 80, passed away with her loving family by her side on Sunday, December 9, 2018 at the University of Vermont Medical Center in Burlington.
She was born in St. Albans on September 6, 1938 to the late Frank & Gertrude (Young) Taylor.
Shirley grew up in St. Albans and was a life long resident of the area. She was a homemaker for most of her life, for her own home, and at the Tyler Place in Highgate. She loved being outside, especially when she was fishing or working in her gardens. Shirley had a beautiful singing voice and a love for old country music, Loretta Lynn and Johnny Cash were two of her favorites. Her favorite hobbies were playing Bingo & scratch tickets, and completing jig saw puzzles & word searches.
She is survived by her children, Tim Flood and his wife Angel of St. Albans, Roland Flood and his significant other LouAnn Arlando of Swanton, Patrick Flood of Swanton, and Julie Comings and her husband John of Milton; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; her siblings, Anita Sartwell of Richford, Beverly LaFrance of St. Albans, Arthur Taylor and his wife Sheila of Sheldon, and Richard Taylor and his wife Janice of New Hampshire; sister-in-law, Jackie Taylor of Middlesex; brother-in-law, Mike Stone of Athol, MA; and several nieces & nephews. Besides her parents, Shirley was predeceased by her children, Larry Bushey, and Rose Bushey; the father of her children, Joseph Roland Smiley Therrien; and her siblings, Robert Taylor, Edward Taylor, and Betty Stone.
A funeral service will be held Saturday, December 15, 2018 at 11:00 AM at Kidder Memorial Home, 89 Grand Ave., Swanton.
Visitation will be held at Kidder Memorial Home on Saturday from 10:00 AM until the hour of her service.
