JEFFERSONVILLE - Shirley Ada Sherrer, age 85, wife of the late Keith Sherrer, passed away Thursday, October 15, 2015 at the University of Vermont Medical Center in Burlington.
She was born January 26, 1930 in Sutton, Quebec, Canada to the late Cecil & Ruby (Prouty) Mandigo. Shirley was one of twelve children.
Shirley married Keith on November 18, 1949. In 1955 they moved to Vermont and eventually settled in Jeffersonville. She was a lady of many talents including sewing, canning, baking, house keeping and entertaining. For over 25 years she managed and kept several homes in the area for Florence Knoll Bassett and Perley Cummings. Shirley enjoyed traveling, but her family was the most important thing to her.
She is survived by three loving daughters, Jo-Ann Shoram of South Burlington, Norma Vogel and her husband Richard of Colchester and Susan Davis and her husband Frederick of Shelburne; three grandchildren, Major Robert Teague and his wife Jeanette of South Berwick, ME, Cheryl Lynn Ovitt and her husband Jeffrey of St. Albans and Benjamin & Danielle Davis of Littleton, CO; four loving great grandchildren, Emma P. Teague and Matthew J. Teague both of South Berwick, ME and Jordan and Hunter Ovitt both of St. Albans; her siblings, Winston & Shirley Mandigo of Port Elgin, Ontario, Peggy Mandigo of St. Marys, Ontario, Lois Sturgeon of Waterloo, Quebec, Connie (Mandigo) Sherrer of Wetaskiwin, Alberta, Geraldine Gowing of Hartford, CT and Carol-Ann Vorse and her husband Clifton of Enosburg Falls; her siblings-in-law from Keiths family, Shirley Gardner of Dunham, Quebec, Audrey Kitt of Bedford, Quebec, Dorothy Sherrer of Sutton, Quebec and several nieces & nephews.
Besides her parents, Shirley was predeceased by her grandson, Frederick J. Davis III, her siblings, Leonard Sturgeon, Cecil Mandigo, Ross Mandigo,Royce & Mary Mindigo and Ruth Bernie and Keiths family, Hugh, Lloyd, George, Douglas, Alden, Patricia and Joyce Sherrer, Mrs. Douglas (Opal) Sweet, Mrs. Francis (Ethel) Haggerty, Mrs. Ernest (Bernice) Tittemore, Ernest Tittemore, Glenna Sherrer, George & Helen Diamond, Steve Kitt and Donald Gardner.
Shirleys family would like to thank the staff at the Pillsbury Manor North in South Burlington for the care given to her over the past 4 months. They would also like to thank the doctors and staff on Baird 4 at the University of Vermont Medical Center.
In keeping with Shirleys wishes she will be cremated and a celebration of her life will be held Friday, October 23, 2015 at 11:00 AM at the Spears Funeral Home, 96 Dickinson Ave., Enosburg Falls. Interment will be held this spring in Sutton, Quebec.
A time of visitation will be held at the funeral home on Friday from 10:00 AM until the hour of the service.
