Enosburgh - Sidney Mortimer Sundell, age 101, a resident of Enosburgh and formerly of Montgomery Center, died on Monday September 24, 2007 at his home.
Sidney was born on March 21, 1906, in New York City, the son of Isidore and Molly (Cotton) Sundell. He was a graduate of Stuyvesant High School in there and attended the City College of New York.
As a young man, Sidney spent considerable time in Mexico. Later, he became a pioneer in advertising with the New York Herald Tribune and two major agencies: BBD&O and Gray. In 1945, Sidney moved from New York to Montreal with his late wife, Rosalind (Gordon) Sundell and their children Esther and Michael. There, he worked independently as a free lance advertiser, specializing in direct mail. After spending several years in Montreal Sidney and Rosalind purchased a farm in Montgomery Center, making that their part-time home. Sidney was a member of the Royal Astronomical Society of Canada.
Surviving are his wife Elizabeth (Fowle) Rawlinson - Sundell of Enosburgh, a son Michael Sundell and his wife Nina of New York, New York, a daughter Esther Lichti and her husband Roger of Lubbock, Texas, a sister Marilyn Levinson of Miami, Florida, five grandchildren, Marianne, David, Margaret , Nathanael and Steven and two great grandchildren Julia and Lillian. In addition to his parents and first wife, Rosalind, who died on July 17, 1994, Sidney was predeceased by a brother Abner Sundell and two sisters, Beatrice Irwin and Zelda Simon
A service to remember the life of Sidney Sundell will be held on Sunday, September 30, 2007, at 12:00 PM at Pratt Hall in Montgomery Village.
