Timothy Michel

ST. ALBANS - Timothy J. Michel, age 52, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, January 24, 2017 at the Albany Medical Center in Albany New York.

He was born August 2, 1964 in St. Albans, VT the son of the late Paul & Margaret (Lyons) Michel.

Tim was a life-long resident of St. Albans. He had worked at The Foundry, North Country Linen and Eveready all in St. Albans. In his younger years Tim enjoyed hunting, fishing and playing hockey and was an avid Detroit Red Wings fan. His passion was music and played drums in several area bands including Southbound. Tim and his Southbound band members, Tony Nichols, Pat Jones, Jeff Lamos & Bob Lamos went to Nashville and recorded a top 30 hit. While in Nashville Tim played drums with many popular country artists including, Alabama, Diamond Rio, Jerry Reed, Confederate Railroad and Oak Ridge Boys. In 1996 he won the title of Best Drummer in New England. Tim led his life to the beat of his own drum and will be remembered for his sense of humor, quick wit and his ability to tell stories.

He is survived by his children, T.J. Michel and his wife Mandy of Highgate Center, C.J. Michel and his Fiance, Shelby Quesnel of St. Albans, and Brittany Michel and her partner Samuel Barr of Barre; his grandchildren, Gauge Michel & Colton James Barr; his siblings Ann Pecor of Sheldon, Paul Michel and his Fiance, Sheila Wilson of Enosburg Falls, Rose Wolff and her husband John of Ocala, FL, Tom Michel of Swanton, and Dennis Michel of St. Albans; several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Tim was predeceased by his sister-in-law, Jeany Begnoche.

A celebration of Life will be held Sunday, January 29, 2017 from 1-5 PM at the Swanton VFW, 8 Merchants Row, Swanton.
