Fairfield - Traute Judy Elfriede Reynolds, 76, passed away on Friday evening, March 18, 2011 at Fletcher Allen Health Care in Burlington.
Judy was born on February 5, 1935 in Selchow, Germany, the daughter of Herbert and Elfriene Ann Helene (Nitzel) Muller. In 1957, she was married to Maurice A. Reynolds and moved to the United States the following year. She became a naturalized US citizen on September 9, 1969.
As a teenager, Judy studied the hairdressing profession. Later, in the US, she worked as a farmer and, also, at Soules syrup factory in East Fairfield, as a janitor at the Fairfield Central School and, for 8 years as a foster Grandmother for the first graders at Fairfield Central School. Judy especially enjoyed gardening, horses, children and dogs. In 2010 she became a survivor of breast cancer.
In 2009, Judy was featured in a St. Albans Messenger news story, recounting her difficulties as a German child during WW II as the Russians and Poles occupied her home land and caused great suffering among her family members.
Judy is survived by her daughter Christina Fecteau and her husband Dale of Richford; a brother, Willi Muller and a sister Brigitte Gullus, both of Ludwigsfelde, Germany.
In addition to her parents, Judy was predeceased by her husband Maurice on April 18, 2002.
The friends of Judy will be gathering Friday April 1, 2011 between 3:00 PM and 4:30 PM at the St. Patricks Catholic Church Parish Hall, Church Rd. Fairfield.
