SWANTON – Vickie L. Greeno, age 66, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 4, 2022 surrounded by her loving family at the McClure Miller Respite House in Colchester.
She was born in Norton, Virginia on May 26, 1956 to Reatha (Hubbard) and the late James “Jim” Culbertson.
Vickie was born in Norton and raised in Colonial Heights, Virginia. She met Ronny while he was serving in the U.S. Army. After a short time of dating, they tied the knot in 1975. They moved to Vermont, making their forever home, and completing their perfect family, after having four beautiful children. Vickie was affectionately known as “MeMe” by her grandchildren, who she devoted everything to. They were the center of her world. Although Vickie moved away from her Virginia family, she still kept in close contact with them and always stayed on top of the latest happenings. She had great interest in family history and ancestry. Vickie loved watching crime shows, and the Hallmark channel while bundled up under a fuzzy blanket with her canine companion, Moose by her feet. It was “the norm” to walk into the house in July and hear Christmas music playing. Vickie absolutely loved everything about Christmas! She also loved the beach and took in every sun ray while visiting the Outer Banks. Sunflowers, weeping willow trees and visiting her family in Virginia were a few of her favorite things. Dirt Cake and homemade spaghetti sauce will forever be her signature dishes. Vickie devoted 30 years to children in our local schools, most of that time in Special Education. She worked in the Swanton School district and then moved on to Missisquoi Valley Union High School where she most recently worked as a Middle School Planning Room Coordinator. Vickie will forever be remembered as a selfless person who worried about everyone else’s well-being. The impact she had on her children, grandchildren, family, local students, and our community will be cherished.
She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Ronny Greeno of Swanton; her children, Travis Greeno and his wife Marie of St. Albans, Trevor Greeno of St. Albans, Carly Tessier and her husband Bill of Swanton, and Casey Scofield and her husband Dana of St. Albans; her beloved grandchildren, Madison Hughes, Alexis Dragon-Greeno, Sierra Scofield and Faith and Hunter Tessier; her beloved chocolate lab, Moose; her siblings, Linda Whichard and her husband Butch, Ronald Culbertson, and Angie Rudy and her husband Jon; nieces, Amy Gabbert and Nikki Rudy; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, her MVU family and the Swanton community. Vickie was predeceased by her Daddy, James “Jim” Culbertson in 2011; a brother, Claude Culbertson; a nephew, Daniel Rudy; and her mother and father-in-law, Lucille and Fred Greeno.
Family and friends are invited to Vickie’s life celebration events that will include visitation on Thursday, November 10, 2022 from 3-6:00 PM at the Goss Life Celebration Home, 89 Grand Ave., Swanton, VT.
