Enosburg Falls, VT - Mrs. Virginia M. Sumner, widow of George W. Sumner DVM, of Enosburg Falls died in Wednesday evening, July 11, 2007 at the Northwestern Medical Center in St. Albans.

Mrs. Sumner was born in Englewood, NJ, the daughter of William and Lillian (Biermanoski) Markowski.

Prior to her marriage, Mrs. Sumner worked as a secretary at the Museum of Natural History in New York City. Following her marriage to Dr. Sumner, they resided in Ithaca, NY while Dr. Sumner attended Cornell University. The Sumners moved to Enosburg Falls in 1953 following Dr. Sumners graduation. Mrs. Sumner was a member of the United Methodist Church in Enosburg Falls and had been a longtime member of the church choir. She had also assisted Dr. Sumner in the operation of his veterinary practice.

Mrs. Sumner is survived by her brother Seslof Markowski of Enosburg Falls and her nieces and nephews Marion and Russell Schofield of Mahwah, NJ, Natalie and Stan Maxwell of The Villages, FL, Judith and Ken Williams of Conway, NH, John Vogel and James Vogel both of Venice, FL and Edward Vogel of Dumont, NJ. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Sumner was predeceased by her husband in October of 2006 and a sister Nellie Vogel.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 14 at 10:00 AM at the United Methodist Church in Enosburg Falls with the Reverend Cheryl Heater, Pastor officiating. Interment will follow at St. John the Baptist Cemetery in Enosburgh. Friends are invited to call at the Spears Funeral Home in Enosburg Falls on Friday evening from 7-9 PM.
