ST.ALBANS / SHELDON - Wanda L. Ploof, age 68, passed away Sunday evening February 5, 2012 at the Northwestern Medical Center in St. Albans with her loving family at her side.
She was born in St. Albans on June 24, 1943 the daughter of the late Arthur & Florence (Corey) Husband.
Wanda was a resident of St. Albans for the past 7 years and a former resident of Sheldon.
She was a 1961 graduate of Enosburg Falls High School. During the early 1970s she taught Catechism at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church.Wanda held several jobs including a Certified Tax Preparer which she donated her time to many area people for over 20 years retiring in 2006, Caretaker for the Governor Smith family in St. Albans, Census Taker for the U.S. Census Bureau with her longest position being a Case Worker for C.V.O.E.O. retiring in the mid 1990s. She enjoyed NASCAR with her favorite driver being Tony Stewart, listening to music especially Elvis Presley and Johnny Cash, attending the Dairy Festival in Enosburg Falls, cooking, writing in her daily weather journal and as a young woman riding horses. For the past 5 years she attended Care Partners in St. Albans.
She is survived by her longtime companion, Gary Johnson of St. Albans; her children, Richard Ploof II and his girlfriend Debbie of St. Albans, James Ploof of St. Albans, and William Ploof and his wife Jessica of Enosburg Falls; 12 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren; her sister, Lucy Lilly Pearo of St. Albans; several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Wanda was predeceased by her great grandson, Austin Ploof; her brothers, Robert & Philip Johnson; and her sister, Ardelle Elwood.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, February 8, 2012 at 11:00 AM at the Spears Funeral Home, 96 Dickinson Ave., Enosburg Falls with Rev. Roger Charbonneau officiating. Interment will be held at the convenience of the family in the Sheldon Village Cemetery.
A time of visitation will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday from 10:00 AM until the hour of the funeral.
