ENOSBURG FALLS - Wendell Paul Hoppy Cassidy, age 77, passed away Wednesday, May 11, 2016 at the St. Albans Health & Rehab Facility with his loving family at his side.
He was born January 11, 1939 in Enosburg Falls the son of the late Albert & Frances (Farnsworth) Cassidy.
Wendell was a lifelong resident of Enosburg Falls and a 1958 graduate of Enosburg Falls High School. He worked as a truck driver for McDermotts Transportation Inc. for 30 years. He had also worked for Wrightholm Bus Line, GMTA, County Courier (Delivery Man) and volunteered 15 years on the Enosburgh Ambulance Service. Following his retirement he owned and operated along with his wife Barb the Enosburg Trading Post. He also served a brief time in the Vermont Army National Guard
He enjoyed camping at Mill Pond Camp Ground in Franklin, Homestead Camp Ground in Georgia and for the past 20 years at Brookside Camp Ground in Enosburgh. Wendell will be remembered by his family & friends as a caring and giving man.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara (Bergeron) Cassidy of Enosburg Falls. Wendell & Barbara were married May 26, 1962. He is also survived by his children, Michael Cassidy and his wife Faith of East Fairfield, and Mary Cassidy of Hyde Park; his 8 grandchildren and their families, Samantha Willey, Tiffany Jones, Trica Cassidy, Tiffany Cassidy, Tara Jones, Timothy Cassidy, Quatie Hayden & Olivia Hale. Besides his parents, Wendell was predeceased by his sister, Phyllis Messier on May 6, 2016.
A time of visitation will be held Tuesday, May 17, 2016 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Spears Funeral Home, 96 Dickinson Ave., Enosburg Falls with a memorial service beginning at 1:00 PM at the funeral home. Interment will follow in the Missisquoi Cemetery in Enosburg Falls.
