ST.ALBANS - William D. Stetson, age 70, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Saturday, April 14, 2012.
He was born January 4, 1942 in Bakersfield the son of the late Homer M. & Doris I. (Flanders) Stetson.
Bill has resided at the Hawks Nest in St. Albans for the last 7 years. Bill was a lifelong farmer and hard worker, a trade that he learned from his father as a young man. He worked on many farms throughout New England with the most memorable being his time on the Paul Eddy Farm in Hinesburg. Bill is also fondly known as the Egg man . He was always willing to help those needing a hand. He enjoyed doing puzzles and gardening. He knew how to grow the biggest and best tomatoes.
He is survived by his children and their spouses, Lawrence & Lois Seymour of Torrington, CT, Lorna Garfield of Island Pond, Arthur Stetson, of Georgia, Kim & Dayton Kenyon of Burlington, and Charity Stetson and her partner Lee Mumley of Alburgh; 13 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; 2 brothers, Gerald & Madeline Stetson of Muskegon, MI, Donald & Connie Stetson of Hardwick; 2 sisters, Alberta Stetson-Labor of St. Albans and Norma Murray of New London, NC; many nieces and nephews and his many special friends at the Hawks Nest in St. Albans. Besides his parents, Bill was predeceased by his wife, Marjorie (Button) Stetson on November 24, 2002; his son-in-law, John Garfield; and his brother, Homer Stetson Jr.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 18, 2012 at 11:00 AM at the Spears Funeral Home, 96 Dickinson Ave., Enosburg Falls. Interment will follow in the Berkshire Center Cemetery.
Visiting hours will be held Tuesday from 4-7 PM at the Spears Funeral Home in Enosburg Falls.
