ALBURGH - William Bill E. Sweeney, 59, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, March 15, 2018 at his home.
Bill was born in Burlington, VT on October 9, 1958, the son of Donald and Minerva (LaVigne) Sweeney.
He attended Saint Francis Xavier School in Winooski and Rice Memorial High School in South Burlington. As a young man, he worked with his father at their family owned gas station, helping with car repairs and customer service. He went on to become a talented stone mason, a master at his trade. He had many friends and was loved by everyone. Bill was a great athlete. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed many activities such as football, hunting, and fishing. Bill was a man of many talents. There wasnt a vehicle he couldnt fix, a room he couldnt remodel, or a fireplace/chimney he couldnt build.
Bill was predeceased by his parents and sister Susan (Sweeney) Lucier. He is survived by his son, Lucas Sweeney and his fiancee Jasmine Parks and his grandson, Chase Sweeney all of Bristol, VT, (former spouse) Sharon Sweeney of Starksboro; sisters, Donna (Bill) Scott of North Ferrisburg, Patty (Tom) Racine of South Burlington; brother-in-law, Frank Lucier of North Ferrisburg; aunts, Susie LaVigne and Lorita Daniels, and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Bills family would like to extend a special thank you to Sherry Rabideau for sharing a large part of his life and for being there for him through his difficult times.
A funeral service will be held Saturday, April 14, 2018 at 1:00 PM at The Congregational Church of Vergennes, 30 South Water Street, Vergennes VT.
