RICHFORD - Wilma F. McAllister, age 86, passed away unexpectedly Saturday, March 10, 2012 at Fletcher Allen Health Care in Burlington, VT.
She was born November 26, 1925 in Richford, VT the daughter of the late Israel & Bernadette (Godin) Tessier.
Wilma was very proud of her granddaughters and was a big part in their growing up years. She was a very active part of many businesses she and William had over the years. She not only did the book keeping, she worked in the woods, barn, hay fields, lumber mill or where ever need be. Some of the businesses over the years included logging, sugaring, farming, McAllisters Trucking, Ford Tractor Sales, McAllisters Lumber. Even with all the businesses she still found time to work at IBM for a few years and was currently driving patients to appointments for the Green Mountain Transit Agency. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary, of the Richford American Legion Post #12.
She always enjoyed learning and was proud of earning her high school diploma from Richford High School through Adult Diploma Program and graduating with the class of 1986. She continued her education and received many certificates over the years. She was an animal lover but especially enjoyed her dogs. Over the years she had many german sheperds, poodles and a white husky and a black lab. Wilma loved to play bingo, card games and go on gambling trips to casinos. She was an avid bowler for many years, winning many prizes for high scores. She really enjoyed being around people and she will be missed for her wit and feisty ways.
Wilma is survived by her daughter, Sheila Record and friend Lynn Raymond of Richford; granddaughters, Danielle Record of Montpelier, and Ashley Caron and her husband Nick of Colchester; a brother, Pastor Leonard Tessier and his wife Carolyn of Elijay, GA; her sisters-in-law, Joyce, Joanne and Vivian Tessier; and several nieces & nephews, especially Robert McAllister who was always available to help out in any way he could. She also leaves many special friends from her very active social events, especially Joyce, Kathy and Carol Fletcher. Besides her parents Wilma was predeceased by her former husband William McAllister in 2006; her brothers, Lawrence, Maurice and Nelson; and her sisters and their husbands, Madeline & Donald Harvey, Frances & Ivan Casavant and Rebecca Billings.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday March 14, 2012 at 11 AM at the Richford United Methodist Church, 86 River Street, Richford, VT 05476 with pastor Jon Bly officiating. Interment will follow in the Richford Center Cemetery.
Visiting hours will be held Tuesday Evening from 6-8 PM at the Spears Funeral Home, 140 Main Street, Richford.
