ENOSBURG FALLS - Winifred E. Duffy, age 86, widow of Raymond J. Duffy, passed away Sunday morning November 2, 2008 at the Brownway Residence in Enosburg Falls where she made her home for the past 4 1/2 years.
She was born April 9, 1922 in Bakersfield the daughter of the late Fred & Belle (Lafley) Jacobs.
She was a resident of Enosburg Falls most of her life. She took pride in being a homemaker and raising her family. Upon Raymonds retirement from Fruitland in 1980 they moved Deland, FL residing there until she moved back to Enosburg Falls in 2004. She was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church and the Ladies of St. Anns. She enjoyed playing golf, reading, crossword puzzles, knitting and crocheting.
She is survived by 2 sons, Larry Duffy and his wife Olivia of Milton, and James Duffy of Barre; 3 daughters and their husbands, Joan & David Magnant of Williston, Donna & Raymond Magnant of Enosburg Falls, and Patricia & Stewart Hammond of Montgomery Center; 13 grandchildren, 18 Great-Grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Teresa Duffy of Burlington; several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents she was predeceased by her husband Raymond Duffy on November 4, 2003; and 2 brothers, Dr. Howard Jacobs and Ronald Jacobs.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday November 5, 2008 at 11:00 AM at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church with Rev. Daniel Jordan celebrating the Mass of Christian burial. Interment will follow in St. John the Baptist Cemetery. There will be no visiting hours.
